Friday Faves from America!
Good morning friends! Happy Friday and Friday Faves! I hate that I’ve been so hit or miss this week. We have been enjoying all the time with our family and friends while we are in. Plus you know the Internet struggle. This week we have been to parks, the zoo, Chuck E Cheese, and seen so many people. I am so proud of Mason! He just jumps in like he knows everyone and has always been here. The last night we saw our family he was 5 months old, so this is new to him. This weekend is our last weekend and we have more family get together to soak up while we can. What are you guys’ plans this weekend? Anything fun?
I feel like this week’s Friday Faves are even harder because I have sooooo many! Here are just a few…..
Man, I wish these little guys could grow up closer together! I just love seeing them play together. We have three nephews. The older two are 9 and 6. Our youngest is one year old (only seven weeks younger than Mason). Then I have twin 9-year-old nieces. I miss them all so much! Nothing like family!
Don’t freak out on me! There is not actually ‘slug’ in the burger and this burger has a really neat story. My hometown was at a crossroads during the Civil War. Many generals resided here during the Battle of Shiloh at TN. The town went through a lot and was still very poor in early 1900. What does this have to do with a burger? I am getting there. So to cut cost and spread what they had out they created these burgers around 1917. The burgers are meat and flour mixture fried to make the patty. These burgers were only 5 cents which then was called a ‘slug’. Hence slugburger! They are can only be found in our area, so it is a must when we come home!
Halo Top Ice Cream
So I know I am behind on this but hey we do not have Halo Top in Japan! So far I have almost completely finished four pints! While in Florida I got the Birthday Cake and loved it! It only lasted three days! Then when we got to Mississippi I had a coupon for two pints, so of course, I had to get two more! I went with the Pistachio and the Sea Salt Caramel. The Pistachio was just okay. Not like the Pistachio gelato I used to get in the Azores. I loved the Sea Caramel. Then I went back and got the Pancakes and Waffles. It is delicious as well! Now I am debating on getting just one more……
Around the Web
The pumpkin craze is already starting!
Hope you all have a blessed weekend! Let us not forget to continue to pray for the victims in Texas!
Question: What is your ‘must’ food in your hometown? Do you join the pumpkin craze? Did you grow up with a big family?
