We Made It!

Hey Friends! It is 3 a.m. Sunday morning as I start typing this post. So in other words…we made it! Thank you for all your safe travel wishes! Please forgive me now for the typos and babble. The trip has just started and I my heart is so happy! I am so glad just to be in the States and so excited to see our family in a few days! Today I am going to do a mini recap of our travels to America! =)

A Day (or two) In Travels

Our journey started Saturday morning. We left our house for the airport shuttle at 10:30. It is a 2+ hour drive to Narita airport in Tokyo. We thought it would be perfect timing for Mason to nap on the way but that did not happen. He just could not get comfortable and only slept about 20 minutes. We did have a little fussing but no meltdowns.

We arrived at the airport almost 3 hours before our flight left. Normally I am not a fan of getting there that early but it worked out great. We checked it, ate lunch, and let Mason run, run, run with his napless self!

If you are ever looking for tips on pack light, we are not your people! We are good at packing but we over pack. DC is no help at this! He kept telling me we should carry four bags! Dude packed 7 pairs of shorts! We are the worst and say ‘what if’ too many times when packing. My goal was two bags and it ended up being three.

Our sleepy baby! FYI….baby (or toddler) wearing at the airport is the best!

I did not take pictures during our flight. It was a FULL flight and with Mason riding in our laps, we had no extra room. I tried to keep as few items out as possible. Our first flight was from Tokyo to Atlanta. Guys are was 12 hrs 50 min long! I did this trip once alone with Mason when he was 5 months old but 16 months is a whole new game! I really think this young toddler age is the toughest to travel with. He is old enough to have a strong opinion and not want to sit still. He is too young though to entertain with electrics and sit still. To our relief though he did well! Think I should do tips and what I learned to post on traveling and baby traveling? We have lived overseas for 4 1/2 years now so I feel pretty confident on my flying and packing game. I am still learning the mom game though.

Waiting for our connecting flight!

Real talk here! I do not understand how people walk off of a flight like that looking amazing! I look how I felt…..death! LOL We did not sleep much on the flight and had been traveling for 16ish hours at this point. Plus it was about 3 a.m. now time.

Mason was so excited watching all the planes! He yelled plane and was running everywhere.

We landed in Florida and were surprised by our friends at the airport! They live close by and we had planned to meet up but had no idea they would be there waiting for us! It was the sweetest surprise and so good to see them. They ran us to the store and then to our room. We were also surprised how nice the place we are staying is. We have a lot of room for Mason to run and play. As soon as we go to the room we ate, showered, I organized all the things because I am a bit crazy that way, then off to bed! Question: What is the longest flight you have ever taken? Are you an over-packer? Best traveling tips?

XOXO

Yay, glad you made it! I think the longest flight I’ve ever taken was to somewhere in Europe… not very long so I shouldn’t be complaining! Hope you have a great Monday, Bethany!

Wow what a marathon flight! Glad you made it safely 🙂
That is a LOT of luggage…we have a problem overpacking too! My husband is the main culprit haha he always makes excuses that his clothes take up more room than mine but he always packs too much stuff!
I can’t imagine flying with a toddler – y’all are rockstars! Have a great vacation!

Oh Wow! that was a really long flight for me, let alone doing it with a 16-month old baby.
I think my longest flight has been of 12 hours as well. I was a kid, and kept walking around the plane. My mom with two more babies, decided to let me go around the plane. After all, the chances of me getting lost in the plane were too little.
