We Met The President

Hey Friends! I hope your week is off to a fabulous start! I could tell you about our eats at the German restaurant or walks to the park but let’s just get to the point of our weekend…….We got to shake hands with President Trump and the First Lady! What? So cool! No matter your political view, it’s pretty awesome that our President was here at our “home” talking to our troops! From what we can figure, he is the first President to give a speech here. It is a common refueling area, but a no other President has stopped and spoken here. It was such as honor!

Sunday

Sunday morning I got up at 4:20, to get dressed and the boys fed. DC had to be out the door at 6. I woke Mason up at 6 and we were out the door by 6:30. We had to meet in one building, then were bused to another building where Secret Service checked and cleared us.

They provided the kids with a movie, which Mason cared nothing about. He was a fan of the donuts though.

We stayed in this building a few hours. Mason did good. He walked around and we would stop and read. At the end, he was getting tired and over being stuck in one spot, but he held on pretty good.

From this building they opened the days from us to go out and greet this president as he arrived. We got a great spot right up front. We waited about an hour and Air Force One arrived. We were all excited, but it turned out not to be the plane Mr. and Mrs. President Trump was on. A little while later they arrived.

You can barely see us on this news clip.

I got to shake the First Lady’s hand first. She just said “hello”. Then President Trump starting talking to Mason and shook my hand and told me “good job mom”. How cool right? The President told me “good job mom”. He could probably tell Mason was exhausted and barely hanging on after the long morning we had.

Then we ran to the hanger were President Trump was about to make his speech.

DC got the best seat in the house!

Mason didn’t make it till the end! It was a lot of excitement!

You can listen to the speech here.

Overall, I was so very impressed by how personal they both were. I mean I knew they’d be nice, because they have to be really. They went a step further and really talked to everyone and took their time. They signed hats and books for people and really took their time with the kids. I was also amazed at how tall they were! lol It was truly a once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget!

Question: Have you met everyone famous before? Who would you meet if you could pick anyone?

XOXO

That’s amazing you met the President! I agree with you, regardless of my political views if I had to opportunity to meet the current President (Trump or anyone else) I would jump at the chance. Not everyone is able to say that did that.
One time, I met Dierks Bentley waiting to get into a country concert which was really cool and unexpected!

What an amazing experience! I’ve only seen a president (Bush) from really far away at an inauguration when I lived in DC and it still gave my goosebumps, I can’t imagine meeting one!
