Weekend Round-Up

Hey Friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Hopefully, the weather is warming up and you had some time to enjoy the outdoors. I received the perfect present for the outdoors but we will get to that. Today I just wanted to share a little weekend round up with you.

Saturday

I was up bright and early as normal. My body is no respecter of the weekends and neither is Mr. Mason. The poor dude is teething and just was not feeling. I believe he woke up twice but honestly all the nights kind of are one big blur. I believe this morning I got him back down about 5 and went downstairs to start the day. I cannot say I mind too much. I honestly love my early mornings all to myself. I only get to relax like this on Saturday mornings so I try to soak it all up. I light the candles, take the fur babies outside, feed them, make coffee then cuddle on the couch with Dixie for a little while.

She does not get as much attention these days so I try to cuddle as much as I can.

At 545 Mason is still asleep and I know I better get up and start making the boys breakfast. They wake up hungry! Soon after I start breakfast Mason wakes up and is ready to start the day. Soon after DC is up. We eat breakfast and play play.

Mason was helping daddy.

Around 830 little man is ready for his morning nap. I take advantage and get a shower and ready for the day. When Mason wakes up we venture out in the rain to grab some groceries. We try a new groceries store. It’s supposed to be like a Whole Foods in Japan. It was pretty small and a tad expensive. I did end up getting some amazing kimchi. It is seriously the best I’ve never had. Side note: Japanese food is not spicy. It can be a bit bland minus the soy sauces. This kimchi was super spicy like the kind that my Japanese friend in Portugal used to make me and I loved it! If we go back it will be for the kimchi.

Looking so big riding in his big boy car seat with his snack pouch.

We soon arrived back to have lunch. After lunch, I ran out solo in the rain to grab some time for my secret sister at a local shop. The rest of the evening was simple with playing, cleaning and some yummy chicken brunswick stew for dinner.

Sunday

Mason did not sleep much better. DC tried to go in and resettle him but he wants his mommy at night.

This morning I slept in till about 545. I woke up to sweet Happy Mother’s Day texts and made me feel so blessed to be a mommy. I knew I had no time to be lazy since I slept a bit later.

I went downstairs started by coffee, took the fur babies outside and started warming up the oven. Sunday is my meal prepping morning. I cook a ton of food and tell DC not to touch it. Then I made them a separate breakfast.

The boys gave me the best Mother’s Day present! When D asked what I wanted for Mother’s Day I told him an old school picnic basket. He did perfect and gave me just that!

Plus two sweet cards! Yes, I ugly faced cried! I am not a holiday person but Mother’s Day just gets me.

After the normally routine and Mason’s nap it was off to Sunday school.

He’s been all about giving sugar lately! He gives them so seriously then totally cracks up. It’s the sweetest!

Big personality in this little boy!

My boys!

We had a great Sunday school lesson followed by a sweet Mother’s Day service. The church gave all the mother’s Starbucks gift cards! So sweet! All moms need coffee right?!

That afternoon we played some more. We had to run to the store to pick up a few more things, then back home.

D grilled Mason and myself delicious salmon and himself a steak. It was a great night to wrap up a great family weekend.

We played some more then little man went to bed about 715. D and I were not far behind him.

Question: Have you got the grill out yet? Do you like the early mornings?

It looks like our little guys are about the same age…and I can totally identify with your stories of getting up early! It looks like you had one awesome Mother’s Day, too. That picnic basket will be super fun for summer lunches! 🙂

I don’t consider myself a morning person, but there are sometimes when I don’t mind getting up before the kids and just sitting quietly with a cup of coffee and a book as I enjoy the silence and peacefulness of the moment. Happy Belated Mother’s Day!
