Weekend Wrap Up…..Friendship Festival and Always Proof Your Photos

Hey Friends! I hope you are having a lovely Monday! I am pumped about this week! Nothing too exciting going on but I am just ready to be back in the routine of things. I love routine a little too much sometimes and we have been out of one for about 6 weeks now. Kind of weird but I am also excited about finally getting an allergy skin test done (if that’s even what you call it). I’ve been dealing with a reaction since the fall. I’ve had to receive two steroid shots and been on one strong round of antibiotics. What is funny though is it dried up and went away as soon as we left Japan. Ummm….. Anyway, back to this weekend, we had a great one that included going to the Friendship Festival and lots of home time with my boys. Here is about it went….

Saturday morning started off bright and early with Lulu meowing and waking me up at 4:50. I guess she knows this is my normal time to get up so I needed to get with it. After letting the fur kids out, coffee, and quiet time I started the attempt to make my very first homemade cinnamon rolls. weekend

Check it out! I did it! It really wasn’t hard but took about three hours will the rising and all. It also made two huge pans. Our neighbor has recently had a baby so I dropped off one pan to her house.

Soon after the rolls were made we started getting ready to head to the Friendship Festival. The weather was calling for rain all afternoon so we wanted to hit it up and get back before Mason’s nap (spoiler…..we kinda failed).

The Friendship Festival is basically a big air show the base does every year. What is special about it is they open the base up to all the local Japanese. It is always a lot of fun and a TON of people!

Mason is always excited to see the planes!

Another awesome thing about the festival is all the food! DC and I selected this chicken gyro and Mason had jerk chicken and rice. All excellent choices!

While we were eating it started to rain so we headed out pretty fast. On the way, a kind man snapped this picture for us and I should have looked at it before saying ‘yes good’. #bellyshot #eyesclosed (*edit: after I posted this to FB one of my friends informed me to watch my hand placement too! LOL)

Saturday Night

After the Friendship Festival we arrived home just in time for a nap we thought. Mason normally goes down great but not this day. He is teething which is causing a little belly troubles so we are thinking that was the deal. We are played until DC had a huge craving for a shrimp po boy sandwich. We went to the store to purchase some bread and sat in the car for like 20 minutes because Mason fell asleep and we knew that was the only peace and rest that was going to happen. #parentlife

After dinner Mason was wild! We played and he kept getting me and trying to bite my nose! I don’t know where this came from and we need to stop it but it was sooo funny!

Dixie was getting me too….

Sunday morning was amazing! The boys slept in and I had a couple of hours to read a new book I am reading, do computer work, and drink all the coffee in peace and solitude! I always enjoy this time but since we’ve been living with our family (which we love) for weeks it was extra nice!

Once we all were up it was our normal busy Sunday morning. Whoever wrote the song lyrics ‘easy like Sunday morning’ does not know what they are talking about. I got the boys fed, clothes ironed, and us all ready and out the door for church. After church, it was my turn to work the spouse booth at the Friendship Festival.

We wore our squadron shirts and had to wear hats for public health purposes. It was great since it rained and rained the whole time! (stolen from Insta)Friendship festival

We made the best of it though!

We sold cinnamon rolls on a stick…..

I worked the both from 2-5:45. Once I got home we ate, played, laid Mason down and I am finishing up this post before submitting my school paper. Responsible I know! My teacher still hasn’t graded last week’s grade so I’ve been holding off.

So we are off to bed read and call it an early night. DC has duty early in the morning and I have a doctor’s appointment at 8 a.m.

How you all have a great week!

Question: Have you been to an air show? Favorite festival food? Favorite thing to eat on a stick?

Love that photo! I always have the most awkward hand placement in photos 😉 looks like I’m not the only one!
Sorry about your allergic reaction…any idea what’s causing it?? Interesting that it went away when you left Japan. :/
    Enjoy your day!

They are thinking environmental but said their is no telling. I have three stickers testing 60 things right now. Next will be a blood test. I also requested them to ask out bio-health about any changes to the water treatment and requesting a mood test for our home.

OMG those cinnamon rolls! I’m salivating now 😛
Sorry to hear about the allergic reaction, though. That’s no fun!

Sounds like the festival was a lot of fun! I grew up in Chicago and every summer they have the air and water show where military planes will fly over the city which is really cool to see. I want to try making my own cinnamon rolls one day soon.
Have a great night (or day idk the time difference between New Jersey and Japan) 🙂
