Working It Wednesdays- A Weekend In Our Lives.
Hey, friends! Sorry I went MIA yesterday. Our little guy has cut not one but TWO molars this week! He needed all of momma’s lovings in the a.m. We bravely went to story time at the library. It went better than I expected. Then during Mason’s nap time, I worked on my crazy large amount of workout this week. Amazon Prime sale was also a distraction…..not even gonna lie. I ordered this yogurt-ice cream maker as a happy birthday present to me! I am pumped!
Today I am linking up for a Working It Wednesday post. I pretty much love the weekends no matter what season it is but the summer is especially fun! This year is even more special with Mason! I love seeing his BIG personality coming through his 15-month-old self. So here are what our weekends have been looking like as of late…..
We love the outdoors. Back home we spend time at the lake and on hunting trips a lot. Here in Japan, we are a bit more limited on our outdoor adventures so it has been a lot of hiking. It works out well to see and experience the different culture. You can see more of our travels and hiking here.
I will be sharing more from our latest hiking adventure tomorrow.
Grilling and Cookouts
We love to grill in the summer! Not only it is delicious but keeps the house from getting even hotter. Did I mention the heat index has been 100+ here for like a week! It was 110 on our last hiking trip before noon. Needless to say, that is why we had to cut it short. Anyway back to grilling….we also love cookouts and having people over. I mean put the two together and you cannot go wrong.
Grilled salmon and zucchini.
Then leftovers of course!
Friends are the best!
I would say this is more in my husband’s lane for sure! I don’t mind doing the work but just tell me what to do. Where we live we have a tiny yard, so we had to scale back from the gardening we’ve done in the past (aka read the whole neighborhood and then some style).
Mason helps as well!
Our first tomatoes of the year.
We have so many Japanese cucumbers so they are on the menu most every night. Yes, that is fried squash! Don’t judge me! ……or my thighs =)
This was just one of our two gardens when we lived in Portugal.
I love that Mason has taken well to the water! I really want to teach him how to swim soon. As for now the fact that he will walk in the kiddie pool and put his face in the water, we are calling a win!
Church is a huge part of our weekends throughout the year. It is easy to let the fun of summer activities become a distraction from church. This is something we really try out to let happen. Vacation and trips are likely to cause a few absences, but when we are home we definitely plan our Sundays around morning and evening service.
That is a wrap for today!
I would love to hear what you like to do on the summer weekends?
